Help hooking up my Xbox360 to my wireless laptop. Its too far to run ethernet cable to my router.?

I havent been able to hook up my XBOX360 to XBOX Live by running an ethernet cable from my laptop to the XBOX. My router is too far away upstairs to run a direct cable. I have windows Vista on the laptop. My laptop has a built in wireless adapter and gets its internet signal from my PC which is upstairs. Please explain in as plain an answer as possible.

You are going to need a wireless adapter for your 360 to pull this off. They normally sell for $80-$100 at most electronics and games stores.
