Is it legal for people to sell Yahoo Email addresses on eBay or anywhere else for the matter?

OK I was on ebay searching for a Nintendo WII and instead I found several yahoo email adresses up for sale which include: NintendoWii_Outlet@yahoo.com, WiisForSale@yahoo.com, and The_Wiister@yahoo.com just to name a few. I felt very uneasy because yahoo email is free and I dont think people should have to pay for these email adresses because they recieved them from yahoo free. I thought to myself that there is no way this is legal. So I came here to ask. Is it legal for people to sale the rights to free yahoo emails???

Although I don’t think it is against the law to sell an e-mail address, it is definitely against Yahoo!’s Terms of Service which everyone has to accept and comply with before using Yahoo!’s services. If you take a look at section 11 of the Terms of Service, it states “11. NO RESALE OF SERVICE You agree not to reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell, trade, resell or exploit for any commercial purposes, any portion of the Service (including your Yahoo! ID), use of the Service, or access to the Service.”

I didn’t even know people did such a thing to make a profit, and it makes me angry. eBay should definitely add selling e-mail addresses that were acquired for no fee through a free service to their banned list of things to sell.
