how long does batteries last in a Wireless Xbox360 controller?

i play like 6 hours a week
i used energizer batteries and i have recharable batteies i can use

It’s supposed to be “Up to 40 hours” but I played my 360 for about 3 hours a day (every day!!!) for a month before they finally ran out.
